About Auspire – The Australia Day Council WA
Auspire – The Australia Day Council WA is an independent, non-profit, membership based association. We are part of the ‘national family’ of eight State and Territory Australia Day Councils and our peak body is the National Australia Day Council.
Auspire – The Australia Day Council WA’s purpose is to promote Australian values, celebrate being Australian and encourage all Australians living in Western Australia to feel pride in the nation, a sense of belonging and a desire to contribute to the future of Australia.
As Australians we should be proud, because we do have remarkable achievements as a nation, a vibrant and diverse society and most importantly, no matter what our background a set of values we universally share. Values like respect, tolerance, taking responsibility, fair go and resilience. It’s values like these that contribute to our national identity and should be acknowledged every day, because it is every day that we have the good fortune to live in this great country and have the opportunity to participate and contribute to society in order that we may grow together as one people and to help build a better Australia for future generations.
Auspire – The Australia Day Council WA runs a number of year round programs throughout the state including:
- The Australian of the Year Awards (on behalf of the National Australia Day Council)
- Aussie of the Month Awards in schools around the state
- Citizen of the Year Awards through Local Government
- Great Australian events and tours of honour
- Australia Day Ambassadors program
